Even the most boring days appear interesting through the eyes of Instagram...

I was a bit of a "mamarazzi" today used my Instagram app on my phone to capture moments throughout our day all day. We were really bored this morning, not only trapped inside due to a crazy thunderstorm, but stuck in the basement in full-on tornado-preparedness mode. I wasn't going to take any chances after the crazy tornadoes going around lately, so we hunkered down and basically just watched tv and snacked all morning long. I did manage to clean out the place that we use as a crawl space which is normally occupied by our cats' litter box and board games. We don't like using our actual crawl space since there's no floor in there- just scary dirty dirt and spiders and who knows what else- eek! I figured that having a bunch of heavy board games on the shelves above our heads wasn't such a smart idea (fun, maybe, but not smart), so I took all the games out and switched them for blankets, cans of food, flashlights, our hand-crank weather radio, and water. Everything had a thick layer of cat litter dust mixed with regular dust on it, so it's been really fun for my allergies. But now, if we do end up having a tornado today, we have a clean and prepared space to crawl into!

First picture of the day- breakfast green monster smoothie (vanilla almond milk, spinach, plain greek yogurt, honey, frozen peaches, frozen banana) Also, he is holding some chapstick, his newest obsession:
My go-to coffee replacement- blueberry green tea in a beautifully hued tin:
Second breakfast- plain greek yogurt sweetened with honey that he likes to eat out of an old Dora the Explorer yogurt cup:
Morning snack while watching Go Diego Go- organic peanut butter cereal:
Playing Jenga while I pull all the board games out of the closet:
Learning how to actually stack the Jenga blocks correctly:
Pre-lunch snack- sneaking some string cheese to the cats. No wonder they're so fat:
Done! Our tornado closet:
Lunch time spaghetti:
After his nap today, Mylo woke up feeling sad and missing his dada. We haven't seen a whole lot of Ariel around here lately since he's been working some crazy crunch-like hours (gone all day, home for a quick 20 min dinner and then gone til 2 or 3am). We decided to spontaneously meet up for a quick mid-day snack and hot drink at a downtown bakery/coffeehouse. The weather advisory had calmed down so we felt safe to leave the house, but we had to be home soon for the exterminator at 3:30pm. Mylo got a "Warm Chocolate" (with whipped cream of course):
Totally stressed-out, over-worked Dad:
The most amazing macarons (not to be confused with coconut-filled macaroons) that we ate while discussing this article:
When we got home, Mylo burst into tears at the sight of the exterminator (he is going through a very painful and extreme shy phase right now where he cries the instant any stranger even looks at him), so we "hid" from the scary ant-killing man upstairs in Mylo's room and read books until he left:
Downstairs again, having a snack of goldfish and sharing with his brother:
And sharing some with Squishy (which he finds hilarious):
I decided to make a super, beyond-healthy dinner after today's sweets at the coffeehouse and grabbed every green thing that I had in the fridge and made some soup.
Mylo pedaled his trike around inside (he PEDALS now!) while I chopped broccoli:
Onion, leeks, and garlic sauteed in olive oil, broccoli, spinach, and broth- all blended up:
Some bread from the bakery and gouda cheese (because we just couldn't be too healthy):
After dinner, Mylo insisted that we do a family march around our house, so around and around we stomped for a good 10 minutes.
Then he played with his mini toys while I did dishes. I stopped taking pics here, but the rest of our night included bath and singing songs and running out of baby lotion and hugs and kisses and quickly falling asleep.
